353 Public Discussion Time
A member of the public raised objections to planning application No. 2007/70/94964 from Hawley Investments seeking to remove the condition 14 relating to construction of footpath of previous outline application 2004/60/92994 for residential development of 7 houses on Bank Lane, Norman Road, Denby Dale.
354 Election of Vice Chair
It was RESOLVED that Cllr K Thursby be, and is hereby appointed, Vice-Chair of the Plans Scrutiny Committee until the next Annual Council Meeting.
355 Apologies for Absence
Apologies for absence from the meeting were submitted by Cllrs A Heaton, D Kaye, E Shaw and A Tribe. It was RESOLVED that the reasons for absence submitted by the above councillors be accepted as valid.
356 Declarations of Councillors’ Interests
Cllr Turner declared a personal interest in Item 7 Application Nos. 2007/62/95087, 2007/62/95088 and 2007/62/95094.
357 Minutes
It was RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on 27 November be received.
358 Street Naming
The Clerk submitted correspondence from Kirklees Council proposing a range of options for the naming of the development off Bank Lane in Denby Dale. It was RESOLVED that the preferred option be Churchfield Court.
359 Planning Notifications
Planning notifications were considered and observations made thereon.
360 Planning Decisions
The Clerk submitted a list of planning decisions. Members discussed application No. 2007/64/94114 by Jones Homes (Northern) Ltd for the erection of hoarding freestanding sign at Denby Dale Cricket Club, Wakefield Road, Denby Dale which the Parish Council had opposed and yet which had been approved. Concern was expressed that the sign is ugly and inappropriate in its current setting, that it constitutes an eyesore and thus detracts from the surrounding area. It was RESOLVED that a letter of complaint be sent to the Planning Department.
