Meeting of the Plans Scrutiny Committee held on Tuesday 26 February 2008 in the Civic Chamber, Council Offices, Skelmanthorpe

441 Public Discussion Time No members of the public were present
442 Apologies for Absence Apologies for absence were submitted by Cllrs D Kaye and K Thursby. It was RESOLVED that the reasons for absence submitted by the above councillors be accepted as valid.
443 Declarations of Councillors’ Interests There were no declarations of interest.
444 Minutes It was RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on 29 January 2008 be received.
445 Wakefield Local development Framework Consultation The Clerk had submitted three consultation documents from Wakefield MDC: Draft Developer Contributions Supplementary Planning Document; Core Strategy Development Plan; Development Policies Development Plan. There was some discussion about the emphasis on affordable housing, the need for riverbank buffer zones and renewable energy. It was RESOLVED not to submit a detailed consultation but to thank Wakefield MDC for sending us the consultation documents.
446 Birdsedge Countryside Project The Clerk submitted correspondence from Mr S Sellars advising the Council that he had set up the Becside Charitable Trust with five other trustees who are mostly “administrative”, to safeguard the future of the project. He also advised that he would be submitting a new application to install a temporary mobile log cabin on the site. It was RESOLVED that the correspondence be noted
447 Planning Appeal The Clerk submitted a planning appeal by Mr S Sellars against refusal of application No. 2007/60/91982. She pointed out that since the Parish Council had originally objected to the application, it was not necessary for any further action. It was RESOLVED that the appeal be noted.
448 Consideration of Planning Applications The committee discussed alternative ways of examining planning applications. It was RESOLVED not to proceed with the proposal to set aside half an hour at the beginning of the meeting for members to look in detail at the plans to ensure that all members of the committee are able to see all plans in details. Instead it was RESOLVED to proceed immediately with the purchase of a projector to enable the plans to be viewed online at the meeting.
449 Planning Notifications Planning notifications were considered and observations made thereon.
450 Planning Decisions Planning decisions were considered and observations made thereon.
