Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Tuesday, 17th May, 2005, in the Civic Chamber, Council Offices, Skelmanthorpe at 7.00 p.m.

Minutes of the Last Annual Parish Meeting

 

It was proposed by Clr. Weatherby, seconded by Clr. J.C. Birdsall, and RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on 18th May, 2004 be signed by the Chair as a correct record.

 

Annual Report of the Parish Council

 

The Chair of the Council presented the Annual Report of the Parish Council for the year 2004/2005.  It was proposed by Clr. Bowie, seconded by Clr. Weatherby and RESOLVED that the report be received.

 

Annual Report of the School Governors

 

The meeting considered the annual reports of the following representative school governors: verbal –Clr. T. Sigsworth – Birdsedge First School;  Written - Colin Lane – Kayes First School, Clayton West; C.P. Naylor – Cumberworth C.E. (A) First School

It was proposed by Clr. Bowie seconded by Clr. Weatherby and RESOLVED that the reports be received and that appreciation be expressed to all schools for the efforts undertaken during the past twelve months.

 

Reports from District Councillors

 

Clr. Mrs. Blanshard and Clr. Dodds gave reports on the work that they had undertaken during the past twelve months on behalf of the electorate of the Denby Dale Ward.  It was proposed by Clr. Bowie, seconded by Clr. Weatherby and RESOLVED that the District Councillors be thanked for their reports.

 

Reports from Voluntary Organisations with Official Representatives of the Council

 

Road Safety Committee:  Clr. J.C. Birdsall of the Road Safety Committee gave a report on the work carried out during the past year.  Clr. Birdsall thanked the Parish Council for its support and expressed appreciation of the work carried out by the Secretary, Mr. K. Haigh.  It was proposed by Clr. Weatherby, seconded by Clr. Bowie and RESOLVED that the report be received.

 

Home Safety Committee:  Clr. Mrs. Clarke, Chairman of the Home and Leisure Safety Committee, gave a report on the work carried out during the past year.  Mrs. Clarke thanked the Parish Council for its support and appreciation was expressed of the work that the Secretary, Mr. K. Haigh, had carried out on the Committee’s behalf.  It was proposed by Clr. Bowie seconded by Clr. Sigsworth and RESOLVED that the report be received.

Denby Dale Parish Environment Trust

 

Clr. Barlow and Clr. Sigsworth gave reports on the work of the Environment Trust.  It was proposed by Clr. Bowie, seconded by Clr. Weatherby and RESOLVED that the reports be received.

 

Clayton West Millennium Green Trust

 

Clr. Bowie reported on the work carried out by the Trust during the preceding twelve months.  It was proposed by Clr. Weatherby, seconded by Clr. J.C. Birdsall and RESOLVED that the report be received.

 

Northern College, Wentworth Castle

 

Clr. Weatherby informed those present that the Northern College was willing to provide courses on Community Cohesion.  It was agreed that this matter be discussed further at the next Parish Council meeting.

Appreciation was expressed for the way Clr. Allen had conducted the meetings during the past Civic Year.
